Set on the slopes of the Serra da Esperança (Esperança Mountains), approximately 1 km (0.6 miles) from the historic town of Belmonte, the birthplace of Pedro Álvares Cabral, Pousada Convento De Belmonte offers stunning views over the Cova da Beira region and the Estrela Mountains Nature Reserve. This historic inn, classified as a building of public interest in 1986, originates from the renovation of the former Nossa Senhora da Esperança Convent. It meticulously preserves the monastery's heritage, including the unique architectural layout of an amphitheatre nestled in the pine woods. The pousada features 24 air-conditioned guestrooms, each uniquely named after friars instead of numbers. All rooms boast a private balcony, antique furniture, wrought-iron bed frames, stonework, and relaxing sand colors. Amenities include a minibar, safe, direct dial telephone, cable TV with digital programming, and complimentary wired and wireless internet access. Private bathrooms are equipped with a shower/bathtub, hairdryer, complimentary toiletries, bathrobes, and slippers; select rooms also feature bidets.
